Erik Biano

Erik Biano (born Erik Babaians) has written countless compositions and songs portraying authentic stories through lyrics drawn from his personal life. The stage name ‘Biano’ is inspired from Erik’s lifelong love for piano. Erik has a rare gift for creating evocative, sweet and satirical songs. As a contemporary composer, his imaginative approach was encouraged at the age of five by watching and listening to Walt Disney Classics. His fanciful compositions are a result of his deep appreciation of many styles from Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy and Ravel to his favorite songwriters André Previn, the Sherman Brothers, Richard Rodgers, Randy Newman and Alan Menken.

Erik had used the piano as merely a mean to compose, but it wasn’t until later age in life when he discovered his hidden passion for the instrument itself. Within a few years of concentrated and intense private education under the endless devotion of his private instructors Dr. Sarkis Baltaian, Dr. Milton Stern, and Dr. Penny Pan, he managed to embark on gaining his bachelor’s degree in music in Classical Piano Performance.

As a teacher and mentor himself, Erik is an extremely intense and passionate advocate for his students. Erik’s students have participated in various exams, such as Certificate of Merit, Royal and AP music theory. He tremendously values the significance of applying disciplined teaching to his pupils in an enjoyable fashion. He has a unique style in teaching music theory, piano, jazz, in a most organized and memorable methods and his primarily goal is to make his students fall in love with music. He is continuously passing on his love and knowledge of composition, orchestration, arranging, transcribing, Sibelius (industry standard music notation software) and Pro Tools (industry standard music recording software) to his students in preparing and establishing them as respectable musicians.
